The Importance of understanding the current e-Learning Market
After reading some artilces (see below for references) I have come to believe that it is vitally important for future Human Resource Development Practitioners and organisations to know what is currently happening in the ever changing field of e-Learning.
It is important to know the current developments of the e-Learning market because of the following reasons:
- e-Learning is still a growing field. The benefits of e-Learning and its viability in organisations are still not clear. Organisations still need to weigh up e-Learning solutions to see whether they can benefit for them. However, there is also substantial evidence that organisations in the past have wasted a lot of money on e-Learning solutions. These examples show that e-Learning may not do anything to help organisations – serving as examples to other firms of the dangers of investing a large amount of money into e-Learning without extensive investigations into it.
- To see what kind of e-Learning solutions are available today, so that managers can know which ones are the best suited to their organisations.
- To aid the implementation of current e-Learning solutions into an organisation. This will result in having increased performance and increased learning capabilities of employees. This will then hopefully increase the competitive advantage of an organisation.
- To help find e-Learning solutions that will decrease the cost of training for an organisation.
- To give an idea of how the e-Learning job market is shaping up for prospective Human Resource Development Practitioners.
- Find an e-Learning solution that will aid in the collaboration of Communities of Practice in an organisation, resulting from innovation and competitive advantage.
